The Acuity Approach

What every Acuity therapist brings.

Our therapists have their own personalities, specialties, and ways of working. What connects our team is a shared belief that therapy should feel personal, thoughtful, and grounded in a genuine relationship.

Warmth without performance

You do not need perfect words or a polished version of your story. We meet you with curiosity, compassion, and room to be fully human.

Collaboration, not instruction

Your insight, goals, culture, and pace matter. Therapy is something we build with you—not something that is done to you.

Evidence-based, personalized care

We draw from proven therapeutic approaches, then shape the work around your needs, lived experience, and the changes you want to make.

Respect for every story

Our work is inclusive, affirming, and nonjudgmental. We honor the identities, relationships, values, and experiences that shape who you are.

Our mission reflects why Acuity Counseling exists, while our vision guides the future we are working toward.

Our Vision

Choosing a Therapist

Finding the right therapist is personal.

Credentials and specialties matter, but so does the way you feel in the room. A good therapeutic fit should give you space to be honest, feel understood, and participate actively in the work.

You are allowed to ask questions, notice what feels comfortable, and revisit the fit if something does not feel right.

Begin with what you want support with

You do not need a diagnosis or a perfectly defined goal. A concern, pattern, transition, or feeling you want help understanding is enough place to begin.

Consider style as well as specialty

Some people want practical tools and direct feedback; others need more reflection, processing, or creativity. Therapist personality and approach can matter as much as a list of focus areas.

Let the practical pieces matter

In-person or online availability, scheduling, insurance, and cost all affect whether therapy can feel sustainable. A realistic fit supports consistent care.

Remember that fit can be revisited

Therapy is a relationship, and not every pairing will feel right. It is okay to talk about what you need, ask for a different approach, or explore another therapist.

The Therapy Process

What actually makes therapy work?

Therapy isn’t simply talking about what happened. It is a collaborative process that helps you understand yourself more clearly, recognize patterns with compassion, and practice new ways of responding to what life brings. Whether you meet with us in person in Edmond or online across Oklahoma, these foundations remain the same.

There is no perfect timeline for therapy. The process is shaped around your needs, your goals, and the pace that feels sustainable for you.

A supportive relationship

Feeling safe, respected, and understood creates the foundation for honest therapeutic work. You don’t have to perform, have the perfect words, or know exactly where to begin.

Greater awareness

Therapy helps you notice connections between your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviors. Understanding those patterns can give you more choice in how you respond.

Practicing something different

Insight is important, but change often grows through practice. Therapy can help you develop realistic tools, healthier boundaries, and new ways of communicating that fit your actual life.

Time and consistency

Growth rarely happens all at once. Small shifts can build into meaningful change when you have the space, support, and consistency to continue working through them.
